 Mission

WHAT WE ARE ABOUT
Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Alumni Association (CFBRAA) is an association of former Ranchers chartered for the purpose of continuing the work that Cal & Mimi Farley began.  Boys Ranch (BR) was our home; not just our school or fraternity.  Most of us did not have much of a home when we went to BR.  When we left we still needed family support.  The Association seeks to be the family to former Ranchers that BR was to us.
The mission of CFBRAA is to be a network of fellow Ranchers that supports one another.  We maintain and build family ties by holding family reunions.  We raise funds to help our brothers and sisters with special needs in times of crisis.  We seek to provide scholarships for family members of fellow ex-Ranchers.  And we seek to give back to Cal Farley's Inc., in appreciation for what we have received.
CFBRAA was first organized in 1967 and was chartered as a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization in 1972.  All contributions are used for the mission of the Association and are tax-deductible.

ALUMNI SUPPORT CENTER

Cal Farley's Inc. has completed the Alumni Support Center in Amarillo.  This is a significant part of the "Lifetime Commitment" of Cal Farley's to the former residents of Boys Ranch and Girlstown and their families.

The Alumni Support Center is located across from the town office at 11th and Monroe in Amarillo.  It is designed to provide temporary housing for individuals and families while they get on their feet or transition to a new phase in their lives.  There is an apartment for a staff family and 11 other apartments set up to accommodate a family or up to 3 individuals in each apartment.  The initial residents will be mostly recent graduates from BR & Girlstown.

The Alumni Support Center is another example of the efforts Cal Farley's is making to provide family support for those who have called Cal Farley's home.  As an Alumni Association we would do well to consider how we might partner with Cal Farley's in helping alumni through the Support Center.

 Founding Legacy Partners

“IT’S WHERE WE’RE GOING THAT COUNTS!”

FOUNDING LEGACY PARTNERS  -  TOPS $100,000
What is the future of CFBRAA?  Over the past four years the Association has made incredible strides.  We've moved our annual meeting from the Fine Arts Center at BR to the Cal Farley's Civic Center in Amarillo.  We've helped twenty family members with scholarships.  We've provided Christmas for over 25 families who would not have had anything.  We've helped brothers and sisters get medical treatments, keep utilities on, keep their vehicles.  We've even helped bury family members.  We are doing good work.  Can we continue it?  Can we do more?
Cause for Celebration and Concern!
Nearly 75% of our receipts over the past four years have come from two sources; neither of which will be able to continue supporting CFBRAA as they have in the past.  Now What?  I guess we had better scale back.  We should probably retreat from the work we have only begun.  Without the resources what other option do we have?

Here's one, why don't we move forward to even greater service!  Why don't we broaden the support base to...oh, how about 1,000 partners?  Why don't be put enough money in our Foundation to cover operating costs for...oh, how about forever.  Then 100% of what we can raise will go to helping alumni families and our former home.  Then we need never fear retreating again; we need never back down; we can always move ahead.

How can we do this?  Founding Legacy Partners.  We are going to get 1,000 $1,000 contributions over the next five years.  These funds will go into the Foundation and the proceeds from this fund will perpetuate CFBRAA for future generations.  It's really not that difficult.  Twenty dollars a month will make a Founding Legacy Partner.  The first $20 willl cover dues.  The next $20 will go to keep things running now, and the other $200 each year will go into the Foundation.  In five years that's $1,000.
Some will be multiple star Partners; $50 / month; $100/ month.  As we all chip in, we will move this Association from very good to GREAT!  Let's do this.  We've begun a good work.  Let's make it a Great Work.

How Can I Be A Founding Legacy Partner?
Any of the following:

  • Send an email to cfbraa@sarpserv.com expressing the level of commitment you can make at this time.
  • At the top of this page click on "OnLine Giving."  Set up a regular contribution through PayPal.
  • Make a one time contribution of at least $1,000
  • Set up an automatic payment with your own checking account.
  • Send a check for whatever you want to start your participation.  Send checks to CFBRAA, PO Box 9435, Amarillo, TX 79105.  Designate to FLP.
All Legacy Partner contributions are counted towards your All Star giving, and Partners will be included on the Founding Legacy Partners Plaque.
