 MOVERS and SHAKERS

THANK YOU
FOR OUR REUNION

A lot of hard work and generous supporters made the 2009 CFBRAA Reunion the best yet.
Any weekend with as many activities as we try to fit in will have some bugs.  But the CFBRAA family worked together to make it run smoothly.

The first and most important part of a report must involve recognition of some of the many folks who worked to make the events enjoyable to all.  You saw many of the ones who worked to put this together at the events.  Tom Alvarez led the team at the golf tournament.  Can't say enough about how hard he worked and how valuable his service was to all of us.   Others who helped make the golf tournament a success include Billy Bob Touchstone and John Matteson.  There were a lot of other helpers who monitored holes, delivered beverages and helped make it enjoyable.

Justin Lewis was involved in most aspects of the weekend, from planning to getting workers to getting donations.  Bubba Davis has always been essential to getting things done in all areas of the Reunion events.  Tom Maynard  provided the projector for the meeting and helped put that together.  For the 3rd year in a row, David Tallant made the Fishing Derby possible, getting prizes and running the event.  Britt Hammond secured the catering for the banquet and helped with the set up.  Jim Hammond and Jesse Eisenman helped bring essential paraphenalia and signs to the events.  David Rattan was invaluable in handling the finances.  Of course the leadership provided by Michael Rogers was essential in planning and carrying out all plans.

  T
he couple that labored the most for the weekend as a whole was Jim and Reeta Canada.  Chaos would have ruled without their dedicated and capable service at all events.

  D
ean Sharp worked diligently before and during the Auction to make this event a success for our Special Needs fund.  Many folks worked with him, including Beverly Hall and Cam Lindsey, to make this event the best yet.

We would certainly be remiss in neglecting to recognize the folks from Cal Farley's who helped make our weekend possible.  Cheree Gilliam in the town office and Mike Pacino at the Ranch helped us in every way possible.

I
nevitably, some folks who labored for all of us will be left out of this list.  The truth is, without the participation of all who attended and many others who worked and gave but could not attend, this weekend would not have been nearly as fruitful, fun and fantistic as it was.  You might need to just reach around and slap yourself on the back for helping to make this a good one for all of us.

 BY THE NUMBERS

COUNTING SUCCESS

The numbers are not all in, and statistics certainly are not a full measure of success, but they do reflect at least a little on the success we are achieving in doing what we do.  One of our primary objectives as an Association is to promote Family Reunions.  Doing this well helps us more effectively achieve our other objectives of meeting special needs, providing scholarships and supporting Cal Farley's.  The numbers indicate we are doing a pretty good job of "reunioning."

The most significant statistic from the weekend relative to achieving our objective is the number of new members.  Over the weekend we added 100 new members to the Association, bringing our total to 360.  That's a 400% increase in the last 4 years.  We must be doing something right to prompt so many to become a part of CFBRAA.

Some of the other facts and figures from the weekend are:

GOLF TOURNAMENT
67 golfers (the term is used very loosly)
   25 hole sponsors
Net proceeds from the tournement will be about $5,000

BANQUET
235 meals were served (not certain how many more were there)
Net cost for the banquet will be about $2,400

AUCTION
$5,000 was raised through the Auction.  All of this will go to the Special Needs fund.

PICNIC
Around 60 folks participated in the picnic on Sunday evening

OLD TIMERS BREAKFAST
Over 200 were at the Golden Coral for breakfast on Saturday morning

FISHING DERBY
24 participated in the Fishing Derby, more than double last year

FINANCES
The net proceeds from the weekend will be between $18,000 and $19,000.  This is a combination of receipts from the tournament, auction, meals, merchandise, dues, sponsorships and, most significantly, AllStar contributions.  A lot of folks seem to believe in what CFBRAA is all about.  The numbers are simply a reflection of the success the Association is achieving.  It takes a lot of work, but it pays off.  Well Done CFBRAA!!
